Certain places have an undeniable bearing. Such a place is Hutchison Road near Mallorytown, Ontario.
In Hutchison Road, Stockwell presents six images as a visual poem. The work utilizes metaphor, opposites, and juxtaposition to show the underlying dynamics inherent in coexistent forces. Each image is an invitation to explore the detail of incongruent beauty. The image series embraces contradictory tensions while reassuring the inevitable harmony and balance in all things. Digital infrared images evoke an analogue aesthetic, pointing to the encroachment of modernization and human artifact on the natural world.
